Viewing data about your CIs and assets from other products
You can use OSLC integration to view details about your configuration items (CIs) and assets from Tivoli® Application Dependency Discovery Manager, Tivoli Monitoring, or any IT application that acts as a UI Preview provider.
UI Preview is a technique that service providers use to display in-context IT resource information. The OSLC consumer application uses a link to a resource in an OSLC UI Preview provider to display information about that resource from the provider that is chosen by the user. For example, from Control Desk, you can view recent configuration changes that might be impacting an associated CI by opening the TADDM Change History UI Preview.
The supplemental data about your CIs and assets from the other products is provided in close-to-real-time, which can help to quickly isolate, diagnose, route, and resolve incidents and problem tickets.
The OSLC community provides integration scenarios in various areas such as IT Service Management. Jazz™ for Service Management plays a part in scenarios such as UI preview, providing integration services such as Registry Services. Registry Services allow provider applications to register and reconcile the IT resources that they know about. Resources are defined by the Common IT Resource Type Vocabulary (CRTV).
Consumer applications then can query the registry to find the URIs that identify those resources in each of the provider applications, and use those URIs to request UI Preview information, for example.
