When Control Desk is
installed, a set of Best Practice CI classifications is preinstalled.
However, only a subset of classifications can be promoted from Actual
CIs to Authorized CIs. You must upgrade to the Comprehensive Best
Practice CI classifications if you want the ability to promote any
of those classifications. The upgrade must occur before you import
data or proceed with the OSLC configuration.
About this task
The upgrade to Comprehensive Best Practice CI classifications
provides flexibility with CI promotion. You can view a list of Best
Practice CI classifications in the CI to OSLC resource type mappings on
the Control Desk wiki.
The subset of classifications that can be promoted from Actual CIs
to Authorized CIs at product installation are noted in the mapping
table. These classifications are called Simple Best Practice CI classifications.
When
you upgrade to the Comprehensive Best Practice CI classifications,
the OSLC resource
type mappings that are loaded at product installation must be reloaded.
Use the following steps to upgrade the Simple Best Practice CI classifications
to the Comprehensive Best Practice set and reload the OSLC resource
type mappings.
Procedure
- In Deployer's Workbench, create a project.
- Import the Authorized CI classifications from the Control Desk server.
For instructions, see Importing a CI space from a server.
- Delete the Simple Best Practice CI classifications:
- Select all of the entries under CIROOT > Authorized
CI Classifications in the Model Navigator, then right-click
and select Delete multiple models. This action
deletes the classifications from the Deployer's Workbench workspace.
- Export the deletions to the server by right-clicking CIROOT and
selecting Export changes back to server.
Note: If you receive errors indicating that not all of the
classifications were deleted, repeat steps 2 and 3. That is, reimport
the Authorized CI Classifications, delete them, and export them back
to the server. Click OK to any error messages that occur. You may
need to repeat these steps several times.
- Remove OSLC resource
type mappings. The method for removing the mappings is to go to and select Configure OSLC Resource Mapping.
For each mapping you want to remove, click the delete icon. If
you delete a CI mapping from the Resource Type and Classifications table,
the corresponding CI attribute mappings in the Resource
Properties and Attributes table are also deleted.
- Install the Comprehensive Best Practice classifications:
- Drag Comprehensive Best Practice from
the Library view to CIROOT in
the Model Navigator. This action adds the Comprehensive
Best Practice classifications to the Deployer's Workbench workspace.
- Export the Comprehensive Best Practice classifications
to the Control Desk server
by right-clicking CIROOT and selecting Export
changes back to server.
- Reload the default OSLC resource
type mappings:
- On the administrative workstation, change to the install_home\maximo\tools\maximo\internal directory.
- Run the command, runscriptfile.bat -fLoadOslcResourceMapping
-ctloam. The script searches for classifications
that are not mapped and maps them accordingly. If a classification
is already mapped, the script recognizes the mapping and does not
attempt to change it.
