Configuration management applications

The IT Infrastructure module provides a number of applications that you use to work with configuration items and related objects. Click Go to > IT Infrastructure to open any of these applications except CI Types, which is under Go to > Administration.

In addition to these applications, you can also use the Relationships and Classifications applications to do work related to configuration management. View the help for those applications for more information about them.

CI Types application
You use the CI Types application to specify which configuration item (CI) types to use when you import actual configuration items from a discovery tool.
Actual Configuration Items application
You can import configuration items from your information technology infrastructure into the Actual Configuration Items application using a discovery tool and Integration Composer. Once imported, these configuration items are called actual configuration items and are displayed in the Actual Configuration Items application.
Configuration Items application
You use the Configuration Items application to define, create, and manage relationships among configuration items according to relationship rules that you specify in the Relationships application. A configuration item is any component of an information technology infrastructure that is controlled by configuration management.

Configuration Processes application
You can use the Configuration Processes application to manage configuration-related requests in your environment. You can customize the flow of activities and ensure that tasks are completed in the right order by the right people.
CI Baselines application
You can use the CI Baselines application to create configuration item (CI) baselines, add and remove member CIs, and compare a baseline to the corresponding actual CIs in your environment.
CI Lifecycles application
The CI Lifecycles application enables you to define and use lifecycle stages appropriate to each type of configuration items (CI).
CI Reconciliation Results application
You use the CI Reconciliation Results application in the Reconciliation module to view and manage results generated when the system runs a reconciliation task that compares two different sets of configuration item (CI) data.
CI Link Results application
You use the CI Link Results application in the Reconciliation module to view and manage results generated when the system runs a reconciliation task that compares two different sets of configuration item (CI) data.
