Checklist for importing Asset Discovery for z/OS catalog

Use the checklist as a guideline for the tasks that you must perform to import software catalog data fromTivoli® Asset Discovery for z/OS® into Control Desk.

1. Install and configure Asset Discovery for z/OS and create a repository of software catalog data. For instructions about how to install Asset Discovery for z/OS, see the Asset Discovery for z/OS installation guide.

2. Export software catalog data from Asset Discovery for z/OS and copy the file to the working directory. Export the catalog data to a file that can be imported into Asset Management for IT.

Copying the file to the working directory is a manual process.
3. Install and configure Control Desk. For instructions about how to complete this step, see the Control Desk installation guide.
If installing Control Desk on WebLogic Server, manually configure the JMS queues.
4. Determine whether to use continuous or sequential queues and configure the integration framework. The steps required to configure components of the integration framework and the cron task for importing software catalog data vary depending on whether you decide to use continuous or sequential queues. Determine which queues to use and then select one of the following options:
5. Configure the cron task instance for imports and schedule the cron task. In the Cron Task application, configure the cron task instance for importing and define a schedule for importing the data.
