Managing configuration items

Configuration management identifies, controls, and maintains the database records known as configuration items, which represent service components, infrastructure elements, or other items that need to be managed in order to ensure the successful delivery of services.

Planning for configuration management

Actual configuration items are read-only data records that reflect the discovered components of your IT infrastructure.

Using maps
After this product’s mapping functionality is configured for all of your sites, you can view world maps that show the geographic locations of selected records, indicate your location, and more. Maps are easily accessed within the applications used to manage the records.
