Changes application
Use the Changes application to manage Changes to the configuration items in your IT environment and ensure that they support your established business practices. The tabs that are available in this application, and the Change operations that you can perform, depend on the edition of this product that you are using and the security groups to which you belong.
- List
- This tab is displayed when you initially go to the application.
To obtain a list of existing records, place the cursor in the Record field, and press Enter. Use the search and query capabilities
to limit your list as needed.
You can select one or more records and use the Map - Side by Side and Map - Below tabs to display maps showing your location and the locations of the existing objects that you have selected. See "Using maps" for details.
To view and modify details of an existing record, click the ID of the record in the list. Tabs are displayed that enable you to view and modify the record as appropriate.
- Change
- Use this tab to view and modify the details of an existing Change. You can add new configuration items, assets, or locations to the Change; modify dates and other details; and view or add attributes.
- Assessments
- Use this tab to view a list of the assessments that are required during the assessment phase of a Change. Included in this list are assessments that were brought over from a job plan that you applied to the Change, along with any assessments that you specified in addition to those from the job plan. You can add, modify, or delete technical and business assessment records. In addition, assessors use this tab to record their Change assessments.
- Impacts
- Use this tab to analyze Change impacts and specify impacts that are added to tasks. In addition, use this tab to view a topology graph that shows the impacts of a Change to target CIs and to CIs that are related to the targets. The Impacts tab contains fields in which the workflow records the outage impact for a Change and the total number of outages that will be caused.
- Authorization
- Use this tab to view a list of the approvals that are required to authorize the Change during the authorization phase. Included in this list are approval records that were brought over from a job plan that you applied to the Change, along with any approvals that you specified in addition to those from the job plan. You can add, modify, or delete approval records.
- Schedule
- Use this tab to view, create, and schedule tasks for the Change. In addition, use this tab to view and manage task conflicts.
- Workplan Map
- Use this tab to view a visual representation of the tasks that are defined for a Change. You can open the workplan map to view the status of each task, the task-by-task flow that is defined for the Change, dependencies among tasks, and the properties of each task.
- Related Records
- Use this tab to view work orders or tickets that are related to this Change.
- Actuals
- Use this tab to enter, view, and modify information about what has actually occurred with the selected Change. For example, you can view or modify the name of the supervisor for the Change, see bidding and actual pricing information, and so on.
- Log
- Use this tab to view the log records that are created as your Change is implemented.
- Service Address
- Use this tab to view or add service address information for the record and to view information about an associated customer, customer agreement, price schedule, and billing status. You can set up a service address for a record in the Service Address application. A service address might also be automatically applied to a record if the CI, location, or asset associated with the record has a service address defined. A record must have a service address in order for a map to be displayed for the record in the Map tab.
- Map
- Use this tab to view a map showing the location of the change. A map is provided only if your administrator has enabled a map service for your installation. The map shows the location of the service address. Right-click the pin icon on the map to view details about the record. If the address is close but not quite right, you might be able to correct it by clicking Find Location. For more information about mapping change records, see "Using maps."
