Assessing a Change
After you initiate a new Change and route the Change to a workflow, the workflow sends notifications to all of the assessors and assessor groups that are assigned to perform technical and business assessments. Assessors record their assessments, adding any implementation notes that need to be considered for the Change. If a Change is preauthorized prior to the assessment step, the workflow skips both the assessment and the authorization phases.
About this task
Assessors analyze the Change to determine its impact on existing and planned CIs and on resources required to build and deploy the change.
The assessors, along with the type of assessment to be performed by each assessor, are listed in the Assessments tab. Technical assessors are listed in the Technical Assessments section, and business assessors are listed in the Business Assessments section. When a job plan is applied to a Change, the assessors that are listed in the Change Assessments tab of the job plan are brought into the Assessments tab of the Change. You can specify additional assessors in the Assessments tab.
For each technical or business assessment, the assessor records the results of the assessment and writes implementation notes, which identify any additional work that needs to be done, such as identifying prerequisites or updating a database. Implementation notes also point out issues that might need to be investigated before implementation tasks are performed.
After the implementation notes are completed, the Change Owner consults the notes and creates additional implementation tasks that are needed for the Change. These additional tasks supplement the tasks that are contained in the job plan.
