Modifying a survey

About this task

You can modify a survey in several ways:

  • Add or delete (remove) questions. You can continue to add and remove question, or make other modifications, as long as the survey is in DRAFT status.
  • Change the status of the survey, for example from DRAFT to ACTIVE to send it or change from ACTIVE to CLOSED when the survey is complete and you no longer want to use a survey.
    Note: Once a survey is changed to ACTIVE or CLOSED it cannot be changed back to DRAFT or modified. If you want to modify an ACTIVE or CLOSED survey, you will need to create a new survey.
  • Define or change the escalation of a survey.
  • Define or change other editable fields.

To modify a survey:

Procedure

  1. Open the Surveys application (GoTo > Administration > Survey Management > Surveys).
  2. Click the List tab or press the Enter key.
  3. Click the Survey ID of the survey to be modified.
  4. Change to desired field or fields. If you want to remove a question from the survey, click Mark Row for Delete Mark Row for Delete.
  5. Click Save Survey Save Survey when finished.

Results

If you want to make updates to an active survey, you need to change the status of the ACTIVE survey to CLOSED. Then you can duplicate the original survey (GoTo > Administration > Survey Management > Surveys, open the survey and click Select Action > Duplicate Survey). The new duplicate survey will start out in DRAFT state and you can make updates. The duplicate survey is independent of the original survey. The survey URL will be new.
