Working with surveys
Go to the Surveys application ( ) to create, view, modify, delete, or send a survey. A survey must have one or more questions associated with it.
The status of a survey can be:
- DRAFT
- ACTIVE
- CLOSED
The following rules apply to various status conditions:
- The default status for a new survey is DRAFT.
- A survey can be edited only in DRAFT status.
- A survey can be moved from DRAFT status to ACTIVE or CLOSED status.
- A survey cannot be edited in ACTIVE or CLOSED status and never moved to DRAFT status.
- A user cannot fill in a survey after a survey is moved to CLOSED status. A CLOSED survey is considered complete and ready for survey report generation.
- Survey reports can be generated in ACTIVE or CLOSED status.
The survey STATUS attribute defines the state of the survey. When a survey is created, the default status is DRAFT. You can save a survey and modify it at a later time. When the survey author is satisfied with the survey, the survey status can be changed to ACTIVE.
The sequence of status change for the survey is DRAFT, ACTIVE, and CLOSED. When the status is in DRAFT, the users can continue to update the survey contents (questions/answers). When the status of the survey is changed to ACTIVE, the survey is ready to be published to customers. When the status is ACTIVE, the survey cannot be changed back to DRAFT. Once in ACTIVE state, the survey questions and answers cannot be updated.
If you want to make updates to an active survey, you need to change the status of the ACTIVE survey to CLOSED. Then you can duplicate the original survey (
, open the survey, and click ). The new duplicate survey will start out in DRAFT state and you can make updates. The duplicate survey is independent of the original survey. When the survey state is active, the attributes on the record is changed to read-only.
