Gantt view tools and GUI elements
The Gantt view provides a number of tools, and GUI elements that help you visualize a schedule, investigate scheduling options, and determine an appropriate schedule for a Change.
About this task
The tools and GUI elements that you view and use most frequently for scheduling are as follows:
- Shading in the Gantt and Resource Constraints charts
- Shading is used in the Gantt chart and the Resource Constraints chart to indicate available time periods for scheduling a selected task. A non-shaded area represents time that is available; shaded areas indicate times when you should not schedule a task because of constraint violations.
- Zooming options
- You can manually resize the timeline in the Gantt view. Click to zoom in and widen the time periods; click to zoom out and see more time; click to zoom to fit all of the tasks and their currently
scheduled time slots in the timeline.
Changes you make to the calendar scale are saved with the schedule.
- Tools for focusing in on specific time frames
- To focus the linear calendar on specific time frames, place your
cursor on the calendar bar, and click a starting point. The cursor
switches to a double-ended arrow. Click an end point, and then double-click
the highlighted area to zoom in on it. For example, double-click a
month to see a four-week view. Double-click a week to get a seven-day
view. Double-click a day to get the view in hours.
Changes you make to the calendar scale are saved with the schedule.
- Schedule refresh button
- To reload the schedule details to include work record updates that have occurred since the schedule was created, click Refresh from the toolbar.
