Create a Service Request
A service request record is a mechanism to track initial service contacts. Resolving a service request involves capturing relevant information from the party making the request and determining what, if any, further action is needed. For more information on service requests, see the Service Requests Help.
Most service requests come from end users, but you can create a service request from a problem. When you create a service request this way, you create a relationship between the two records. Creating such a relationship usually is for information purposes only, with no inheritance of status or other type of linkage. However, your system administrator might configure the system to allow the service request to update the status of its originator.
To create a service request:
-
In the Problems application, display the record for which you want to create a service request.
-
Select the Create > Service Request action. The system creates a service request record and informs you of its identifier.
You can view information about the record on the Related Records tab. You can also view the record in its application.
