Creating a Service Desk offering

You can create Service Desk offerings to enable the ordering of Service Desk specific offerings.

About this task

Service Desk offerings are created by a Service Designer to allow self service users to report problems or make requests typically handled by a service desk. Using an Offering instead of a Ticket Template, the Service Designer can take advantage of the approval and fulfillment process for Offerings. A Service Request generated from an Offering can have a ticket template defined also. The default dialog for Service Desk offerings contains additional fields for details and priority.

To create Service Desk offerings, you must have both Service Catalog and Service Desk installed. You also need to be a user with Service Designer authority.

To create a Service Desk offering, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. Go to the Offerings application (Go To > Service Request Catalog > Offerings).
  2. Select an offering and check the Service Desk Offering? check box.
  3. Save the offering.
