Auditing Change attribute updates

If you want to obtain a more granular log of updates to a Change record than is provided by the View History action, you can run the Electronic Audit Transactions report. This report enables you to audit one or more specific Change attributes, such as priority, urgency, or type.

About this task

Before you can run the Electronic Audit Transactions report, you must specify that you want to audit the database table that contains the attributes; you must also enable auditing for the attributes that you want to audit. You do so in the Database Configuration application. After you have specified the table and attributes to audit, you can run the report.

Enabling attribute auditing

Procedure

To audit specified Change attributes, perform the following steps:

  1. Go to the Database Configuration application (Go To > System Configuration > Platform Configuration > Database Configuration), type workorder in the Object field, and press Enter.
  2. Select the WORKORDER object.
  3. On the Object tab, check Audit Enabled in the Audit section. The Audit Table field displays the value A_WORKORDER, which is the default name of the table that contains attribute information for Change records.
  4. On the Attributes tab, perform these steps for each of the attributes that you want to audit:
    1. Expand the attribute to display information about the attribute in the Details section.
    2. Check Audit Enabled in the Advanced section. The Status field for the attribute displays the word Change, indicating that a modification to this attribute in the database is underway.
  5. Click Save to save the Audit Enabled specification for all of the attributes for which you have enabled auditing.
  6. Display the record list, and select the Manage Admin Mode action.
  7. Apply your database configuration changes. For detailed instructions, consult the online help for the Database Configuration application. (To access the help, click Help in the upper right corner of the application window.)

What to do next
