Tracking ongoing changes
This product provides a number of features that help you track ongoing Changes.
- Using maps
After this product’s mapping functionality is configured for all of your sites, you can view world maps that show the geographic locations of selected records, indicate your location, and more. Maps are easily accessed within the applications used to manage the records. - Viewing the Workplan Map
The Workplan Map for a Change or Configuration process provides a quick visual snapshot of all of the tasks that are defined for the process. You can consult the Workplan Map to view the task-by-task flow, along with the status of each task; the dependencies among tasks; and the properties of individual tasks. - Tracking updates to a Change
When you initiate a new Change, the date and time at which the Change was created are displayed in the Reported Date field. As a Change moves through the process, you can use the View History action to monitor updates to the Change. - Tracking the progress of a Change
The progress of a Change is indicated in two ways: by the Progress Map, a row of nodes in the Progress Map section of the Changes application views; and by the value in the Status field. In the Progress Map, the highlighted node represents the step that is currently underway. - Monitoring the Projected Service Outage
The Projected Service Outage (PSO) is a determination of any deviations from service availability that are mandated by service level agreements (SLAs) or operation level agreements (OLAs). The PSO gives you important information that helps you decide whether to reschedule a particularly impactful Change, or whether an outage causes you to exceed your SLA or OLA for allowed outages. - Tracking the costs of Changes
This product provides two features that enable you to track the cost of Changes across the data center: reports for tracking costs to configuration items (CIs), and a Cost Analysis tab that you can add to your start center.
