Associating CIs with change windows

You can specify one or more configuration items (CIs) that can be taken out of service during the change windows that are defined in the Change Windows Calendar that you are working with. After you associate one or more CIs and save the calendar, the change windows determine when the associated CIs are available for service.

About this task

You can associate CIs with a Change Windows Calendar in any of three ways:
  • Use the CIs tab of the Change Window Calendars application.
  • Use the CI Details tab of the Configuration Items application.
  • From the list of CI records in the Configuration Items application, select multiple CIs and associate them with a Change Window Calendar at the same time.
  • Using the CIs tab in Change Windows Calendars
    When you use the CIs tab in the Change Windows Calendar to associate CIs with a Calendar, you click Select CIs to display a list of CIs from which to select. After you select one or more of the CIs, these CIs are available for implementation tasks during the change windows that are defined in that Change Window Calendar.
  • Using the CI Details tab of the Configuration Items application
    You can use the CI Details tab of the Configuration Items application to directly associate a Change Window Calendar with a CI that you are working with in the Configuration Items application. When you associate a Change Window Calendar with a CI, that CI is available for implementation tasks that are scheduled during the change windows defined in the Calendar.
  • Using the Add CIs to Change Window in the CI application
    You can associate multiple CIs to a Change Window Calendar by performing the Add CIs to Change Window action in the Configuration Items application. When you associate a Change Window Calendar with a multiple CIs, those CIs are available for implementation tasks that are scheduled during the Calendar time periods.
