Moving or modifying IT assets
You can move an asset from a non-inventory location to another non-inventory location or to a storeroom. You can move assets from your current site to another site within your organization or to a site in a different organization. You can also make changes to assets, including modifying users and custodians, groups, or attributes of the asset.
About this task
Procedure
- Display the asset that you want to move.
- Select the Move/Modify Assets action.
- To move the assets, complete the following steps:
- In the Move/Modify Assets window, select the Assets tab.
- Optional: To add assets, you can click Select More Assets.
- Perform any of the following actions in the Mass
Move section:
Option Description To move the assets to a different site - Specify a value in the To Site field, or click Detail Menu to retrieve a value. The site can be in the organization in which you logged in or a different organization.
- Next to the To Site field, click Apply. If the site to which you want to move the assets has an asset with the same identifier as one that you are moving, you must assign a different identifier for the asset you are moving. Every asset within a site must have a unique identifier.
To move the assets to a different location - Type a value in the To Location field, or click Detail Menu to retrieve a value.
- Next to the To Location field, click Apply.
To move the assets to a different parent - Type a value in the To Parent field, or click Detail Menu to retrieve a value.
- Next to the To Parent field, click Apply.
To move all the assets to one parent - Type a value in the To Parent field.
- Click Apply.
- Perform one of the following actions:
- To perform the move immediately, click Execute Now.
- To perform the move when the work order's status is COMP (Complete), click Save as Plan.
To move the assets to a different bin - Specify a value in the To Bin field, or click Detail Menu to retrieve a value.
- Next to the To Bin field, click Apply.
To move IT assets to a new GL account - Specify a value in the GL Account field, or click Detail Menu to retrieve a value.
- Next to the GL Account field, click Apply.
- Optional: You can edit any fields for individual assets.
- Click OK.
- Optional: To modify users or custodians, select
one of the following options:
Option Description To add, modify or delete users or custodians for individual assets - In the Move/Modify Assets window, select the Users and Custodians tab.
- On the Users and Custodians tab, select the Modify Selected tab.
- On the Modify Selected tab, modify the user and custodian information as needed or click New Row to add users and custodians. If this is the first person to be associated with the asset as a user or custodian, the Primary check box is selected by default. Only one person can be designated as the primary contact for the asset.
- Click OK.
To add, modify or delete users or custodians for multiple assets - In the Move/Modify Assets window, select the Users and Custodians tab.
- To add assets, click Select More Assets and select additional assets.
- Select the Modify All tab.
- On the Modify All tab, modify the user and custodian information as needed or click New Row to add users and custodians. If appropriate, you reassign the primary user or custodian by selecting the Primary check box for the appropriate person. Only one person can be designated as the primary contact for the asset.
- Click Apply.
- Optional: To modify groups, select one of the
following options:
Option Description To add, modify or delete groups for individual assets - In the Move/Modify Assets window, select the Groups tab.
- On the Groups tab, select the Modify Selected tab.
- On the Modify Selected tab, modify the groups information as needed or click New Row to add groups. If this is the first group to be associated with the asset, the Primary check box is selected by default. Only one group can be designated as the primary contact for the asset.
- Click OK.
To add, modify or delete groups for multiple assets - In the Move/Modify Assets window, select the Groups tab.
- To add assets, click Select More Assets and select additional assets.
- Select the Modify All tab.
- On the Modify All tab, modify the groups information as needed or click New Row to add groups. If necessary, you reassign the primary group by selecting the Primary check box for the appropriate group. Only one group can be designated as the primary contact for the asset.
- Click Apply.
- Optional: To modify attributes, select one
of the following options:
Option Description To add, modify or delete attributes for individual assets - In the Move/Modify Assets window, select the Attributes tab.
- On the Attributes tab, select the Modify Selected tab.
- On the Modify Selected tab, modify the attributes information as needed or click New Row to add attributes.
- Click OK.
To add, modify or delete attributes for multiple assets - In the Move/Modify Assets window, select the Attributes tab.
- To add assets, click Select More Assets and select additional assets.
- Select the Modify All tab.
- On the Modify All tab, modify the groups information as needed or click New Row to add groups.
- Click Apply.
- Click Save.
