Internet Explorer 8 blocks ActiveX scripts, therefore it is necessary to change the browser security setting to ensure IBM Endpoint Manager for Remote Control works as expected.

Procedure

  1. Open Internet Explorer 8.
  2. To enable scriptlets, choose Tools-> Internet Options-> Security-> Custom Level-> ActiveX controls and plug-ins.
    1. On the Allow Scriptlets setting, select the Enable radio button.
    2. On the Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls setting, select the Enable radio button.
    3. On the Download signed ActiveX controls setting, select the Prompt radio button.
  3. Click Ok and Apply.
  4. Click Ok.
  5. When selecting the Tivoli® Remote Diagnostics application, if necessary, download the application's trc.jsp file from the popup dialog. The Remote Diagnostics Remote Diagnostics icon icon is available for selection from the Common Actions menu.
  6. Open this trc.jsp file with the default Java Web Start Launcher (When installed, this Java Web Start Launcher is normally located at, C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB\java\jdk\bin\javaws.exe)
