Deleting a security group

When you delete a security group from your directory server, it is not deleted from the Maximo® database.

If you use WebSphere® application security, the users and security groups that you create in your directory server are copied into Control Desk by the VMM cron task. They are stored in the Maximo database. When you delete a security group from your directory server, the cron task does not delete it from the Maximo database. Its members still have access to the applications and access collections that were defined for the group.

If you delete all the members from the security group in your directory server before you delete the group, then the group still exists in the Maximo database. However, since it has no members it does not provide access to any applications or access collections. Another possible approach is to edit the security group in the Security Groups application and delete all the applications and access collections to which it has access.
