Resolving detected conflicts

After you detect a conflict that involves an implementation task, you can resolve the conflict by selecting a conflict-free time window for the task. You do so in the Graphical Scheduling application.

About this task

To resolve a conflict that has been detected on an implementation task, perform the following steps:

Procedure

  1. Open the Schedule tab in the Change that contains the task, and ensure that the task has an estimated duration. If the estimated duration is not set, the finish time is automatically set to one hour after the start time.
  2. Go to the Graphical Scheduling application and open the schedule in which the task was scheduled by completing one of the following tasks:
    • Click Go To > Planning and Scheduling > Graphical Scheduling.
    • With the cursor in the Schedule field, press Enter, and select the applicable Graphical Scheduling project from the record list.
    • On the Schedule tab for the Change, click Select value beside Graphical Scheduling Project, and select Go to Schedule.
  3. Move the task to one of the conflict-free areas in the Gantt view.

The scheduled start time for the task is refreshed to conform to the selected time window. The scheduled finish time is the scheduled start time plus the estimated task duration.

  4. Click the Commit Changes button to commit the new task time to the Change, and click Return to return to the Change.
  5. Click Update Conflicts to run conflict detection again for this Change. After conflict detection runs, the task no longer is displayed in the Task Conflicts list, because you have resolved the conflict.
