Automatic conflict detection

Conflicts are detected automatically across all of your changes on a regularly scheduled basis. By default, conflict detection is set to run daily at 1:00 AM. When conflict detection runs, the results are saved to a database, and you can view the detected conflicts. Newly detected conflicts overwrite the conflicts that were detected during the previous conflict detection.

This automated conflict detection is triggered by a built-in escalation named PMCHGCONFLICTS. The definition of this escalation includes the schedule on which it runs. You can modify the schedule if you want to detect conflicts at a time other than daily at 1:00 AM.

In addition to detecting conflicts automatically on a regularly scheduled basis, you can manually run conflict detection after you modify a task schedule to remove conflicts. When you run conflict detection in this way, you detect conflicts only for the implementation tasks in the change that you are working with.
