Working with Service Catalog
Service Catalog provides maximum flexibility to your internal customers in shopping for IT and other offerings through a service catalog.
The following topics provide an overview of Service Catalog and information about Service Catalog applications.
- Service Catalog overview
A service can be defined as an offering, function, or activity delivered to an internal or external customer that may contribute revenue or complete a required task for an organization. Its output is created through the use of an organization's human, intellectual, financial, and physical assets. - Service Catalog configuration
After installation of IBM Control Desk, Service Catalog requires configuration of a number of items to match your company's infrastructure. - Defining and publishing offerings and services
You define offerings and services in the Offerings application and you use the Catalogs application to group offerings to allow users to browse for and order them in the Offering Catalog and Self Service Center. - Shopping for offerings and services
The applications described here allow users to browse for and order offerings and services defined in the Offerings application and published in the Offering Catalog. You can add items you wish to order to your Shopping Cart, or create a cart template from a list of frequently ordered offerings. You can view previously submitted catalog requests in the View Catalog Requests application. - Managing approval and fulfillment of service requests
You can set up and manage approval and fulfillment of the service requests that get created when a user submits a catalog request for an offering or service, or when a service desk agent submits a service request for a customer issue. - Working with Automation Scripts
Use the Automation Scripts application to create and configure scripts that automate routine tasks, based on the events or attributes of a business object, or based on actions or custom conditions. You can create a script in any of the supported scripting languages, and execute the script without deploying Java™ files or restarting the server.
