Viewing the Workplan Map

The Workplan Map for a process, such as the Release process, provides a quick visual snapshot of all of the tasks that are defined for the process. You can consult the Workplan Map to view the task-by-task flow, along with the status of each task; the dependencies among tasks; and the properties of individual tasks.

About this task

Perform the following steps to access and use the Workplan Map:

Procedure

  1. In the Releases application, select the release process for which you want to see a Workplan Map, and open the Process Details tab. The overall map of tasks is displayed in the Workplan Map section, with each task represented by a round blue node. If the process contains activities, the activities are displayed as well. A status indicator is displayed in each node to indicate the current status of the task.
  2. Perform any of the following actions to obtain additional information about the tasks:
    • To see task details, right-click a task node, and select one of the following options:
      Activities and Tasks
      Go to the task in the Activities and Tasks application, where you can review comprehensive information about the task. To return to the Workplan Map, click Return in the Activities and Tasks application.
      Properties
      Open a window that displays the release process number, site, status, and summary of the task.
    • View a list of tasks in the Tree window to the right of the map.
    • Click Overview to see a box drawn around the part of the map that is currently visible; you can move this box to display other parts of the map.
    • Use any of the standard GUI control buttons in the upper left corner to modify the map display by zooming in, zooming out, or performing other actions. To display an indication of the purpose of a control button, hover over the button.
