Selecting software images from CMDB

Use the Select from CMDB dialog box to select one or more software image configuration items (CIs) for the Definitive Media Library (DML) repository that you are working with. You select from a list of software image CIs that are registered to the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

Before you begin

Use this option when you have not associated an operational management product (OMP) with a repository. Software images that you select from CMDB are not managed by an OMP. Therefore, you cannot specify the software images for automated distribution using the OMP. You populate a repository with software images from CMDB in order to create a store room-type repository, a file system, or some other repository that is not managed by an OMP. These images can be used for a manual distribution task, such as creating a CD or a DVD that can be manually distributed for installation on a specified set of computers.
