Use this task to create a request for change (RFC) from
a release. When you create an RFC from a release, you specify the
RFC completion date that is required by the release; you also specify
any other information that defines the requested change.
About this task
An RFC is requested from a release when the release requires
changes to the IT environment. For example, memory must often be upgraded
before a release can be deployed to an application server.
To create
an RFC from a release, perform the following steps:
Procedure
- If you have not already done so, perform these steps to
open the release that requires the RFC:
- Click to go to the Releases
application.
- Click Release to display a list of the releases
that are defined in your environment.
- Click the number of the release that requires the RFC.
- Select the action to open
the Process Requests application.
- Click (), and specify the
following information to define the new Process Request:
- Type a short description of the needed change in the Description field.
Type a description that clearly identifies the needed change, so that
other users can easily identify what you are requesting.
- In the Process Manager Type field, select Change.
- In the Classification field, select Classify, and
click the blue box beside the classification value that best describes
the purpose of the request. The Classification and Class Description fields
are populated based on your selection, and any attributes associated
with the classification are displayed in the Classification Attributes
section. You can optionally enter specific information to define the
attributes.
- Enter values in other, optional fields as appropriate.
- Click Save () to save the process
request.
Results
A new Process Request ticket is created and associated to
the release with a FOLLOWUP relationship. You can change the information
for the Process Request by clicking , opening the Request, and editing the information.
