Escalations

Escalations enable you to automatically monitor critical steps in a release process. With escalations, you can to ensure that critical tasks are completed on time, change the status of a record, or change the owner of a record. If release tasks are not completed promptly, they time out, and you can use escalations to assign the tasks to other people. This helps tasks get completed on time and helps to prevent work backlogs.

You can use a set of numerous predefined escalations. Many of these escalations ensure that notifications are sent at critical steps in a release, such as the transfer of a release, a release status or progress change, or a change to a CI. You can tailor these escalations to suit the needs of your data center, or create new ones.

For more information about creating, modifying, activating, and removing escalations, see the help for the Escalations application. You can access the Escalations application by clicking Go to > System Configuration > Platform Configuration > Escalations.

The following table lists and briefly describes the predefined escalations that are provided with this product. You can also view these escalations in the Escalations application; the release escalations have names that begin with the letters PMREL. Open any of the PMREL escalations in the Escalations application to view the specific conditions that trigger the escalation.
