Definitive Media Library application

A Definitive Media Library (DML) is a secure compound in which the definitive, authorized versions of software package configuration items (CIs) are stored and protected. A DML consists of one or more software libraries or file-storage areas, referred to as repositories. You use the Definitive Media Library application to create, edit, and manage DML repositories.

A repository contains software image configuration items (CIs). If you are integrating your release operations with Tivoli® Provisioning Manager, you can import CIs that reference packages that are stored on this operational management product (OMP); these software images can be specified as sources for automated software distribution tasks. You can also associate CIs that already exist within CMDB with a particular DML repository to indicate which storeroom or repository is managing that particular CI.

To view a list of repository records that have been created and saved in the application, place the cursor in the Name field, and press Enter. Use the search and query capabilities to limit your list as needed. After you open a repository record, you can click View Record List to return to the list of records.

Tabs are displayed when a record is open; the tabs enable you to work with the selected record.

The Definitive Media Library application contains the following tabs:

Repository
Use the Repository tab to view and modify the details of an existing DML repository or create a new DML repository.
Software Images
Use the Software Images tab to link an existing software image CI in the CMDB to the DML repository that you are working with, or to create a new software image CI that you want associated with the repository.

You can perform a number of related tasks in the Definitive Media Library application.
