Deployments application
Use this application to distribute software packages to a set of target computer system CIs.
For a software deployment, after you specify the source CI, a software package that you want to deploy, and one or more target CIs, you can distribute the software directly from Tivoli® Provisioning Manager.
In order to use Tivoli Provisioning Manager for a deployment, you must have installed the associated IM. If you have a different OMP that you want to use for deployments, you can create a custom IM and set up deployments that use that OMP.
If you have a deployment server that does not currently have a supported IM, you can manually deploy CIs from that server and record the deployment in the Deployments application.
To view a list of deployment records that have been created and saved in the application, place the cursor in the Deployment ID field, and press Enter. Use the search and query capabilities to limit your list as needed. After you open a deployment record, you can click View Record List to return to the list of records.
Tabs are displayed when a record is open; the tabs enable you to work with the selected record.
The Deployments application contains the following tabs:
- Deployment
- Use the Deployment tab to create and initiate deployments.
- Process Information
- Use the Process Information tab to view comprehensive, consolidated information about the release that initiated a deployment, the process for that deployment, and the task that is defined for carrying out the deployment.
- Target Analysis
- Use the Target Analysis tab to view information about the target CIs that are affected by a deployment.
- Task History
- Use the Task History tab to view the status and ownership history of a deployment task.
- Notification Log
- Use this tab to view email notifications and other communications that have been generated for a deployment.
