Release classifications
A release classification describes the general purpose of a release. You can specify a classification at any time during the release life cycle, but releases are typically classified when they are created. It is strongly recommended that you apply a classification when you create a release. This product provides a built-in set of classifications that are commonly used in release processes.
Some classifications bring additional information into a Release. When you specify a release classification, any attributes that are associated with that classification are also brought into the release, and you can specify classification attribute values.
Many classifications are grouped under parent classifications. For example, the PMREL_INFRASTRUCTURE classification has as a parent classification PMREL_HARDWARE.
If you installed built-in content when you installed the product, a set of release classifications is provided. You can edit these predefined classifications, remove them, or augment them with new classifications as needed. You can create, edit, or remove classifications in the Classifications application, which is grouped in the Administration module.
The following table shows the predefined release classifications, with associated attributes, that are available if you installed sample data:

To view a list of these built-in classifications, along with other classifications that might have been added to your product environment, go to the Classifications application (PMREL in the Classification field, and press Enter. You can click the name of a classification to view details.
