Creating price books

You use the Price Books application to create a catalog of list prices for items, tools, or services in a customer inventory.

Procedure

  1. In the Price Books application, click Create Price Book on the toolbar.
  2. Type the price book name or identifier.
  3. Select the type of price book. You can create price books for tools, offerings, items, and service items.
  4. Enter the effective date for the price book. The effective date must be later than the current date and later than the effective date of the previous revision of this price book.
  5. Add items to the price book. The options for the types of items you can select are determined by the value in the Type field. If you select Tool as the price book type, then you can select and add tools to the price book.
  6. Add prices to the item lines. These prices can be adjusted.
  7. Save the price book.

What to do next

After you have saved a price book, you can proceed to change the price book status. For example, you can approve the price book so that it becomes effective on the effective date. While the price book is in Draft status, you can add and remove items and you can adjust the prices of individual items or multiple items. After the price book has been approved, you can create revisions that take effect when the current price book is no longer in effect.
