Price book revisions

Using the Revise Price Books action from the Select Action menu in the Price books application, you can revise price books when your list prices for items, tools, or services change.

For example, you can have one price book that is in effect during the summer. You can create a revision to it that takes effect during the fall, with different prices, services, tools, or items. The revision number of the initial version of a price book 0. The first revision created is 1, the second is 2, and so on. Only one revision of a price book is in effect at a time. When one price book ends, the next revision comes into effect. The effective date of a new price book revision must be a future date and must be later than the effective date of the previous revision. When a price book revision is approved, the end date of the price book revision is set to be one day before the effective date of the next revision. You can only revise a price book if it is approved and if there are no other revisions that are in PNDREV status. All of the items, tools, or services in the original price book are copied to the revision.

You can use the View Revision History action from the Select Action menu to see a list of all revisions of a price book. The list includes the status, effective date, and end date of the revision.
