Viewing CI data from UI Preview providers in the CI application

There are several places in the Configuration Items (CI) application where you can view data about your CIs from other products that are configured as UI Preview providers.

About this task

The places that you can view the UI Preview data depends on the properties that the administrator enables.

UI Preview data displays for a CI if the following conditions are met:
  1. The administrator enables at least one of the properties that display CIs in the CI application.
  2. The classification for the CI is mapped to an OSLC resource type.

Procedure

  1. Go to IT Infrastructure > Configuration Items.
  2. Locate and open the CI that you want to view UI Preview data for.
  3. Do the following steps to view the UI Preview data on the CI Summary tab of the CI application.
    1. Under the Classification fields of the CI Summary tab, select View Federated Details. The Federated Details dialog displays resource links for UI Preview data that are related to the CI.
      Note: If you configured Control Desk to also view event data from Tivoli® Netcool/OMNIbus, entries for events that are related to the CI might also display.
    2. Click the button next to the provider in the Federated Details dialog to view the data. A UI Preview dialog displays the information from the UI Preview provider.
    3. Click X to close the Federated Details dialog and return to the CI.
  4. Do the following steps to view UI Preview data on the CI Topology tab of the CI application.
    1. Go to the CI Topology tab.
    2. Right-click the CI and select View Federated Details. The Federated Details dialog displays the providers that have data about the CI.
    3. Click the button next to a provider in the Federated Details dialog to view the data. A UI Preview dialog displays the information from the UI Preview provider.
    4. Click X to close the Federated Details dialog and return to the CI.
