Deallocating licenses for decomissioned assets

IBM® Control Desk includes an automated script that de-allocates software licenses when assets are decommissioned.

The DECOMMISSIONED status maps to a number of external statuses (BROKEN, DECOMMISSIONED, DISPOSED, INACTIVE, MISSING, SEALED).

The Automation Script is called IEMSWDASSETDECOM.

The script checks whether the internal value for the asset is set to DECOMMISSIONED and de-allocates the licenses that are associated with the decomissioned asset. The script is invoked automatically when the internal value of the status of the asset changes to DECOMMISSIONED.

If you do not want software to be de-allocated automatically, you can deactivate the launch point for the automation script.
