Asset and CI cleansing and reconciliation tool
The asset and CI cleansing and reconciliation tool is a cron task that processes Computer System records that exist in your Maximo® database. These records can be stored as deployed assets, authorized IT Assets, actual configuration items (CIs), or authorized CIs. The cron task cleanses Computer System naming attributes, generating standardized integration identifiers for associated assets and CIs. Control Desk uses the standardized integration identifiers to identify and eliminate duplicate records from entering the system through user interface or integration applications.
It is important to ensure that your records reflect the most recent changes to mapping and cleansing rules. For example, referencing the wrong duplicate in a Change can result in the calculation of an incorrect impact or a Change being scheduled during an incorrect Window or Blackout Period.
The cleansing and reconciliation tool does not need to be run following a completeControl Desk installation. However, if you are upgrading from version 7.5, you must run the tool against your authorized space data.
Running the tool
In Control Desk, cron tasks are configured and run with the Cron Task Setup application: .
The cron task name for the asset and CI cleansing and reconciliation tool is CCIGuidLoader. A single instance of this cron task, with the name CCIGuidLoader01, is added to your system during installation. You can use this single instance or create your own instances.
To cleanse and reconcile your existing assets and CIs:
- Modify the parameters for the tool.
- Define a schedule for the cron task instance to run.
- Activate and save the cron task instance.
Once you have run the cleansing tool, you are advised to run the duplicate identification reports that are provided with Control Desk.
