This topic describes how to create a new lifecycle state
so that you can add it to one or more lifecycles.
Before you begin
In order to add a state to a lifecycle, the state must be
defined in the CISTATUS domain.
About this task
Each new state that you define for use in CI lifecycles must
be mapped to one of the four defined internal states. To create a new
lifecycle state and map it to an existing internal value, follow these
steps:
Procedure
- Click .
- Type CISTATUS in the first row search
field to filter the list of domains.
- Click the Edit Detail icon. This opens the SYNONYM Domain dialogue box. There
are five preestablished internal states within the application:
- CUSTOM
- DECOMMISSIONED
- NOT READY
- OPERATING
- UNINITIALIZED
Only the CUSTOM state is unaffected by control logic, so use this
internal state when creating new external states.
Note: If you create
a state or value that maps to the DECOMMISSIONED value, you cannot
make it a protected state. A CI in a DECOMMISSIONED state cannot be
the target of a change.
- Click New Row to create a new state.
- Type the name of the internal value that you want to map
to your new state. It must appear exactly as it does in
the list or it
will produce an error.
- Type the name of the new state or value you are creating
in the Value field. This name is the one that subsequently appears
on all screens as an option.
- Click OK. This action
takes you back to the Domains page.
- Click the Edit Detail icon to the
left of CISTATUS to open the SYNONYM Domain window. Your newly created state appears in the list of states.
What to do next
The new state will appear in the drop-down list of available
states when you add a new state to a lifecycle.
