Deleting a lifecycle
You can delete a CI lifecycle, but only if there are no configuration items (CIs) in classifications to which that lifecycle has been applied.
Before you begin
When you delete a lifecycle, if there are any CIs in classifications to which that lifecycle has been applied, you will see an error message telling you that you cannot delete the lifecycle because those CIs are using it. Before deleting the lifecycle, apply a different lifecycle to each CI classification to which the lifecycle that you wish to delete was applied. To view the classifications to which a CI lifecycle is applied, select that lifecycle from the list in the CI Lifecycles application and click the CI Classification Assignments tab.
To delete a CI lifecycle, follow these steps:
Procedure
- Click to open the CI Lifecycles application.
- If the lifecycle that you plan to delete is the default lifecycle, choose another lifecycle to be the default lifecycle and check the is Default? box on the line of the new default lifecycle. You cannot delete the default lifecycle.
- Click the name of the lifecycle you want to delete in the Lifecycle Name column.
- Choose the Delete this Lifecycle action.
- Are you sure you want to delete this record? appears in a dialog box. Click Yes if you want to delete the lifecycle.
