Modifying an authorized CI classification

If you modify an authorized CI classification, you must decide whether to modify the existing CIs.

After you have created some authorized CIs, you might decide to modify the classification. You might decide that you want to delete one or more attributes, because you do not need to manage them, or you might decide to add attributes, to enable you to manage something you were not managing before. When you save the modified classification, you will see a dialog asking whether you want to modify all the existing CIs in that classification. If you say yes:

• If you deleted one or more attributes, they will be deleted from all the CIs.
• If you added one or more attributes that do not exist on the corresponding actual CI, they will be added to all the CIs, using the default value you supplied.
• If you added one or more attributes and those attributes exist on the corresponding actual CI, you will be asked whether you want to copy the values from each actual CI to the corresponding authorized CI, or use the default values.
