Escalations

This product provides numerous built-in Change process escalations. Many of these escalations ensure that notifications are sent at critical steps in a Change. You can tailor these escalations to suit the needs of your data center, or create new ones. To view the built-in escalations, go to the Escalations application, type PMCHG in the Escalation field, and press Enter. You can open an escalation to view the specific conditions that trigger it.

Escalations enable you to automatically monitor critical steps in a Change process. With escalations, you can to ensure that critical tasks are completed on time, change the status of a record, or change the owner of a record. If tasks are not completed promptly, they time out, and you can use escalations to assign the tasks to other people to prevent work backlogs.

To access the Escalations application, click Go to > System Configuration > Platform Configuration > Escalations. For more information about creating, modifying, activating, and removing escalations, see the help for the Escalations application (in the navigation pane, click Modules and applications > System Configuration module > Platform Configuration > Escalations application).

The following table lists and describes the escalations that are provided as built-in product content:

Escalation Description
PMCHGCIWORK Sends notifications when CIs are scheduled to be changed
PMCHGIMP Sends notifications when CIs are impacted
PMCHGCONFLICTS Detects implementation task conflicts; notifies Change Owner
PMCHGREL Updates the Wait-for-Release task status
PMCHGSTARTCHG Puts a Change in the INPRG status when the specified scheduled start date arrives
PMCHGTSKREADY Sends a warning when a task is not completed by its scheduled completion date
PMCHGWOHST Sends notifications when Changes are transferred
PMCHGWOSTA Sends notifications when the status of a Change changes
