Configuring communication templates for email notifications

When users are added to Control Desk Service Portal, an email is automatically sent to them to notify them that they have access to the Service Portal and provide them with a password for logging in. Administrators can customize the email notification that IBM Control Desk generates.

About this task

The PWRESET communication template is used for email that notifies Service Portal users about access and provides the login password. If you want to customize the email notification, you can update the PWRESET communication template. To update communication templates, you use the standard IBM Control Desk user interface. Consider making updates before you add users to Control Desk Service Portal.

You must have administrator rights to modify communication templates. To customize a communication template, log in to the IBM Control Desk user interface as an administrator and complete the following steps.

Procedure

  1. Go to System Configuration > Platform Configuration > Communication Templates.
  2. On the Templates page, click Filter and search for PWRESET.
  3. Open the PWRESET template. The template contains sample text, as shown in the following example.
    Enclosed is your new IBM Control Desk password. {0} To log in and change your 
        password, follow this link: http://{1}/maximo/ui/maximo
  4. Update the communication template to suit your needs. For example, you can replace http://{1}/maximo/ui/maximo with the URL for your instance of Control Desk Service Portal. You can choose to replace IBM Control Desk with Control Desk Service Portal.
  5. Save the template.
