User interface controls in Control Desk Service Portal

Control Desk Service Portal offers standard browser navigation features and provides keyboard shortcuts to optimize the user experience.

For best results, ensure that you use a browser version that the product supports.

Navigation

Service Portal is a web application, and you can use standard browser features to navigate the user interface.
Here are some examples:
  • If you select a ticket in the My Tickets panel on the dashboard, the Ticket page opens. To return to the dashboard, click the back button on your browser. You are prompted to save any changes that you have made to the ticket.
  • If you view the list of tickets in the My Tickets panel and you want to open a specific ticket in a new tab, press the control key on your keypad and simultaneously click the ticket that you want to view. The ticket is opened in a new tab in your browser.

Keyboard Shortcuts

You can use a combination of keys to perform an action without using a mouse. The following tables summarize keyboard shortcuts that are available for the different user roles in Control Desk Service Portal.

Keyboard Shortcuts for All User Roles

The following table lists shortcuts that are available to any Service Portal user.

Rich Text Shortcuts

When entering data into the user interface, in some cases you can use a combination of keys to format text or perform actions. For example, when you add a description of a ticket, you can make text bold or italicize the text for emphasis.
