Viewing related versions, releases, or features of a software product
Use the Software Catalog application to display a software product and all of the versions, and releases or features, of it that were found in the software catalog.
About this task
In the Software Catalog application, the parent-child relationships displayed on the Product Hierarchy tab represent the software hierarchy of a particular software product, including any higher-level software, related releases, and related versions or features.
On the Product Hierarchy tab, when the current catalog record originates with Asset Discovery for z/OS®, the field values are defined there and cannot be changed here. When the current catalog record originates with any other discovery tool, or as manual entries, the field values on the tab can be changed.
The Product Hierarchy tab presents tree hierarchy-like information, but without actually displaying a tree structure view. Distributed software products offer versions and releases, mainframe software products offer versions and features.
If the software is at the product level, no higher-level data is displayed, but any child versions in the software hierarchy are displayed. If the software is at the version level, the parent product is displayed along with any related releases or features. If the software is at the release or feature level, the parent version is displayed.
The steps for viewing related versions, releases, or features of a software product follow.
