Authorized assets
An authorized asset is a computer, software, or other asset that is either deployed or intended to be deployed in an operational environment. Information about authorized assets is maintained in the Assets application.
In the Deployed Software application, if the current deployed software record is located on a computer that has been reconciled with an authorized asset, the computer is listed in the Linked Computer Assets section of the Authorized Asset tab.
The Authorized Asset tab displays information about a computer and, in some cases, partitions that have been linked to the selected software through a reconciliation process. This process compares discovered hardware and software data with data maintained in the Assets application. Assets application data is information that a business creates about what it has acquired and installed. This data represents the authorized inventory, hardware, and software that was purchased or leased, installed, and is expected to be found when a discovery tool scans the network.
You can use the Authorized Asset tab to correlate information about the currently displayed deployed software record with the corresponding information about the authorized asset (computer or partition) linked to the deployed computer or partition through the reconciliation process. Linked computer assets provide a direct connection to Assets, Contracts, and other applications where more information can be found.
