Automated management options

There are a few options for automating the management of IT assets and CIs, when you need both.

Not everyone will need all of these options. It depends on whether you require both assets and CIs and whether or not both already exist.

If you already have authorized assets and CIs, you can use automated linking to find the cases where they represent the same IT resource and then link them. This linking allows users to quickly navigate from one to the other and access all the details of the IT resource that they represent.

If you only have authorized assets but want to start using configuration management, change management, or any other CI feature, you can use automated creation of CIs from assets. This option creates the authorized CIs and links them to their associated assets.

If you only have authorized CIs but want to start using asset management or any other asset feature, you can use automated creation of assets from CIs. This option creates the authorized assets and links them to their associated CIs.

Once you have both authorized assets and CIs, and the associated ones are linked, you can use automated synchronization of updates. This option automatically updates the authorized CI attributes whenever a change is made to its associated linked asset, or automatically updates the authorized asset attributes whenever a change is made to its associated linked CI.

Each of these automation options must be enabled manually, so that you are aware of what automation is actually taking place.
